Home Cooking Skills
The pupils will follow the BTEC Jamie’s Home Cooking Skills Course at either Level 1 or 2 and have the opportunity to develop their knowledge, understanding and confidence to cook meals at home.
If you take this you will:
You will learn essential knowledge and skills such as :
- Kitchen basics : what equipment you need and the best way to stock your store cupboard, fridge and freezer
- Food safety and hygiene : knife safety, fridge management and rotation
- How to shop cleverly : shopping lists, seasonal food and planning ahead
- Preparing ingredients and understanding confusing food labels
During spring 2015 several of our students completed their BTEC Level 1 and Level 2 Awards with these tempting final piece recipes.
