We hope you are all keeping well.

It’s now time to say a massive thank you to you all at Foundry College. L could never have imagined the path her education has taken, and how long covid along with an array of symptoms has forced her to keep adapting her life.

Firstly, thank you to NR for working with St Crispin’s and being understanding throughout for an evolving condition L has, when many others were not. The fact there is no precedence set made it harder for others in wider society to understand.

We only expected it to be a short time with Foundry College before L was well enough to return to St Crispin’s. Unfortunately, this condition had other ideas and cannot believe it’s been two years with the Foundry College team.

A positive in this horrendous situation has been L has got to meet you all (even though it’s been on video call 😉), and you have all given her hope, compassion and understanding that she could continue in education against all odds.

L has had such a roller coaster and the long covid conditions have caused her many challenges that no 16-year-old should have to face. We are very proud of how she has coped and the resistance, maturity and sheer determination even on days that have left her bedbound.

L has enjoyed not only the lessons and having an educational focus but also the human element of talking to all the tutors. Especially when most students her own age just don’t understand or can’t comprehend her situation.

Thank you, NR for accepting L, CM and HP for pushing her Maths, L and Jess for inspiring her English creativity and HV for adding Science.

As a token of our appreciation, we have left you all a little thank you gift up at Foundry College as obviously we don’t know your addresses. There is one gift bag each with your names on. Please make sure you pick up the correct bag with your name on as all gifts are relevant to each person. The gifts should be in reception/administration office so make sure you collect them when you are next on site.

L so far has managed her biology, English Lit , Business Studies and now on her Maths paper with home invigilation. She also has computer science this afternoon. She hasn’t felt great even dosed up with an array of medication. She has gone back to bed after each exam but she is tackling each day and so very proud of her 😀.

A massive thank you all for your continued support and online lessons that have now finished. Of course, we will keep you posted as even though she is on study leave to conserve her energy, she is still in the school system for a while.

Don’t forget to pick up your gift and no its not alcohol for obvious safety reasons on site but something from Lucinda that’s personal and hope you like them.

Thanks again as without you all Lucinda could not have sat her GCSE’S. Many others who have long covid like Lucinda have been forced to drop out of education altogether as they have not had any support from schools.
